Send Us Your Story

There is something incredibly special about being trusted with someone else's writing, especially when it's a story that hasn't found its way into the world yet.

Our short story submissions are open to writers interested in having their original fiction considered for a future issue of Gothic Angel Society. While dark romance will always be at the heart of what we do, we know there are countless ways to tell these stories and we don't expect your work to look or sound like anything we've published before.

We want to read the stories you've spent time with. The ones you've rewritten, questioned, loved, stepped away from, and eventually decided were ready for someone else to experience.

If that story feels like it could have a home within our pages, we hope you'll trust us enough to send it our way.

  • Please send us a complete story

Your submission should be your own original work and should be reasonably polished when it reaches us. We're not expecting perfection, but we should be receiving something you genuinely consider ready for publication.

Submitting your story means you're asking us to consider it for Gothic Angel Society. It does not guarantee acceptance or publication.

If we think your story could belong in a future issue, we'll reach out to you directly with next steps, publication details, and any applicable editorial or contractual terms.

Until then, a submission is simply that: a chance for us to read what you've made.

  • What We're Looking For

We're looking for original short fiction for potential publication in upcoming issues of Gothic Angel Society.

Your story should have a clear connection to dark romance or the larger culture and themes surrounding it, but don't feel like you have to check every box you associate with the genre.

Stories can be romantic, erotic, unsettling, heartbreaking, strange, funny, horrific, or some combination of all of the above.

  • About Exclusivity

If your short story is accepted for Gothic Angel Society, we'll ask that the piece remain exclusive to Library of Angels for 30 days following publication.

After that period, the story is yours to take wherever you'd like, subject to the terms of your contributor agreement.

What Happens After You Submit?

First, we read it and if your story feels like something we want to explore for Gothic Angel Society, our team will reach out using the email address you provided!

We know how personal it can feel to share something you've written, and we hope you know that trusting us with your work means something to us, whether or not we're able to give it a home in the magazine.

Every issue has its own little world to build, and sometimes a story we genuinely enjoy simply isn't meant for the one we're working on. That doesn't take anything away from what you've created or the care you put into creating it.

So if you have a story you're proud of, please send it. Let us meet you through your writing. Even if this isn't the issue your story finds its home in, we're still grateful you thought of ours.

Our AI Policy

Library of Angels does not accept short stories that have been generated, written, or substantially developed using generative AI.

The same applies to supporting creative materials submitted alongside your short story. Please do not send us AI-generated digital artwork, character artwork, promotional artwork, or other generated creative assets as part of your submission.

We care deeply about protecting human creativity, especially within independent publishing.

If we determine that submitted work violates this policy, the submission may be immediately removed from consideration. Knowingly submitting AI-generated work as your own may also affect your eligibility to work with Library of Angels or Gothic Angel Society in the future.
